JOHAM is a typeface I designed from scratch for NIDO magazine. Most magazines choose their typefaces from a catalogue. NIDO got one of its own, and it became part of the magazine's voice, from the journal pages to seasonal features on food or Easter.

Designing a typeface means drawing every character so that it holds up in any combination, at any size, next to any image. It is the slowest and most precise discipline in graphic design, and the one that has shaped how I look at every layout since.

JOHAM was selected for Typodarium, the annual calendar that presents 365 typefaces by designers from around the world, in two consecutive years: 2012 and 2013.
